Overview

Nestled in the quiet corner of Kampung Giching, Sepang, Pondok Dagang is a breakfast haven that captures the essence of traditional Malaysian kampung dining with a modern, cozy touch. Located at Lot 948E, Jalan Haji Adnan, this restaurant offers more than just food—it delivers an experience steeped in nostalgia, where every bite takes you back to simpler days.

The charm of Pondok Dagang lies in its ability to balance authenticity with comfort. The space itself is clean, inviting, and thoughtfully decorated to echo the warmth of a rustic village home. Visitors often find themselves sitting on traditional ambin mats, enhancing the intimate and relaxed communal vibe that fosters conversation and connection.

Central to the menu are their standout dishes—Lempeng and Mee Kari—both crafted with care and skill. The lempeng, a classic coconut-flavored pancake, is often paired with sambal manis pedas, creating a harmonious blend of sweet and spicy that embodies kampung flavors. Meanwhile, the mee kari offers a rich, fragrant curry noodle experience that comforts and satisfies. Other offerings such as nasi dagang, laksa Johor, lontong, and the intriguing tepung bungkus round out the menu, providing a variety that is just right—not overwhelming, yet enough to keep regulars looking forward to their next visit.

The dining experience is complemented by the warm hospitality of the owner, Puan Zainon, whose friendliness adds a genuine human touch often missing in larger eateries. This personal connection, combined with a consistent effort from the staff despite being short-handed at times, cultivates a welcoming atmosphere that makes customers feel like part of the household.

Pondok Dagang resonates deeply with those seeking a laid-back breakfast spot where the environment and food remind them of their roots or introduce them to authentic kampung-style tastes. It’s a perfect destination for families, nostalgic patrons, or anyone craving simple yet memorable Malaysian breakfast dishes in a setting that encourages lingering over conversation and home-style flavors.

While service may occasionally slow during busy periods, the food quality and kampung vibe more than compensate, ensuring that Pondok Dagang remains a beloved spot in Selangor’s breakfast scene. For those who cherish traditional Malaysian breakfast fare served with a side of warmth and community spirit, this quaint eatery is well worth the visit.

When you want to feel like you're having breakfast in a kampung vibe, this is the place that you're looking for. Nasi kerabu sedap and worth the wait. Ordered lempeng kelapa with sambal Manis pedas kick sedap. Although the management needed to be improved as they couldn't keep track of their order, the food didn't ruin the mood. Don't worry, the staff are always ready to have your orders prepared.

I will give 4.5/5 for overall ratings. The review solely based on my observations, my family and I taste buds. Environment: it's giving a kampung vibes. Duduk atas ambin while eating. Perfecto. Menggamit kenangan masa kecil. Food: not sure if everyday the menu change, the list of menu they have on the day I went just nice. Not too much choice but not too limited. We tried lempeng kelapa, popia, nasi dagang, lontong, laksa Johor, Tepung bungkus, agar-agar santan. Laksa Johor is okay just because I am Johorean, so it taste different from laksa Johor that we used to have in Johor. But still it's nice. Agar-agar santan not so soft, but less sweet. So okay. The rest I would say it's good. Service: as per what they said the short staffed, so we understood that it takes longer. Less than 30 minutes should be fine. Foot note: Do come early as you can. Makin naik matahari, makin ramai orang.

The place has a great classic chill vibe with proper decor and classic malay songs playing in the background. It's a good breakfast port away from city scenes. The service was excellent to us. The food was great..of course some are more awesome than others. The staff and owner are friendly and beyond 0900 the place starts to get crowded. We would come again and recommended our friends to try out. Thanks for the service. Keep it up.
